This is our first fans Goal of the Month competition where the winner of the July/August Goal of the Month will go through to feature in the final of the Goal of the Season competition. As always Bantams.Online wants to make sure the voices of Bradford City fans are heard, so below are the goals that have been selected for you to vote on. At the bottom of this page is the voting form, but before that is a list of the contenders so you can make your mind up.
GOAL A – Andy Cook
vs Hull City (Carabao Cup Rd 1 – August 9th 2022)
Andy Cook deserves all of the credit he gets for finishing this goal, but this has been selected for the team work. Straight off of the training ground this short corner caught the Hull City players off guard and was a well worked move that deserved a goal.
GOAL B – Richie Smallwood
vs Newport County (Sky Bet League Two – August 13th 2022)
Captain Richie Smallwood found space outside of the Newport County area and unleashed a screamer with his left foot that left the goalkeeper stranded. Certainly one way to open your goalscoring account.
GOAL C – Harry Chapman
vs Newport County (Sky Bet League Two – August 13th 2022)
This goal from Harry Chapman is similar to the ones that were floating around of him on social media when he joined Bradford City. Collecting the ball near the centre circle he just keeps going before calmly slotting the ball past the Newport County goalkeeper.
GOAL D – Scott Banks
vs Hartlepool United (Sky Bet League Two – August 20th 2022)
Having shown that he is going to be an important player for Bradford City already, Scott Banks kept running at the defender before unleashing a shot off of his left foot that nestled into the back of the net.
GOAL E – Andy Cook
vs Hartlepool United (Sky Bet League Two – August 20th 2022)
Another left footed goal for the collection. This time from Andy Cook having been put through by substitute Yann Songo’o and wasted no time in rifling this one home into the top corner. This goal is an example of a striker brimming with confidence!
GOAL F – Jake Young
1st goal vs Sheffield Weds (Papa John’s Trophy – August 30th 2022)
Having received the ball outside of the area on the left wing Jake Young instantly looked to create space for himself whilst still trying to bring the ball fully under his control. He managed to evade another Sheffield Wednesday player with a neat little touch over his foot, and still with defenders ahead of him and with some work to do he side footed the ball from outside of the area into the back of the net.
GOAL G – Jake Young
2nd goal vs Sheffield Weds (Papa John’s Trophy – August 30th 2022)
This one was a well taken goal with the outside of the foot that demonstrated Jake Young’s ability to get into good positions and score. Having received the ball he looked have gone out too wide but turned his defender well and ran in towards goal, he then applied a neat finish with the outside of his right boot at what was still quite a tight angle.
